A 2-day course which teaches trauma professionals how to use the Abbreviated Injury Scale when classifying traumatic injuries. The participant will learn the history of AIS, structure of the code, rules and guidelines, configuration of the Injury Severity Score (ISS) and how that is utilized within a trauma program for calculating probability of survival and various other statistics utilized within a trauma program.

This course is a 4-hour workshop specifically for those who document within a patient's medical record. The focus is on how the documentation within the record can impact not only trauma scoring, but reimbursement, research, and benchmarking results. This course is for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical examiners/coroners, etc.

The Trauma APP Certification Course is the first of its kind, created specifically for advanced practice providers (APPs) who are new to practice or new to trauma care. Introduction to Trauma Data Analytics course will review key components of your trauma data, from your data quality plan. We will review examples from verified trauma centers regarding Cribari / NFTI, OPPEs as well as Nelson Scoring. The course will conclude with discussing performance improvement and pulling the data together to improve the care of the injured patient.

We will go beyond the basic structure and criteria for trauma center verification and dive deeply into the common and critical problems that a trauma medical director or trauma program manager will face in trying to provide optimal care for injured patients. This will include in-depth discussions of performance improvement in all aspects of trauma care delivery ranging from relationships with EMS to discharge and rehabilitation.

The STN Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) course is taught to all members of the trauma system team who participate in the ongoing assessment, evaluation and improvement of trauma care. The Society of Trauma Nurses has developed TOPIC in response to the need for education and better understanding of the Performance Improvement process in trauma care. TOPIC focuses on the ongoing assessment of the continuum of trauma care with a structured review of process and discussions of strategies to monitor trauma patient outcomes.

The STN Advanced Trauma Program Management (ATPM) course is designed by TPMs for TPMs who seek advanced training and in-depth knowledge related to the Six Performance Domains of Trauma Program Management as outlined in the STN TPM Role Delineation Study. The Six Performance Domains of Trauma Program Management include the following: Continuum of Trauma Care, Professional Issues,
Human Resources, Management of Physical Resources, Financial Resources, and Medical Professionals
Public Relations, Advocacy and Marketing, and Project Management.
All preconference workshops will be held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
